What We Pour at the Motor Way Bar

At our cafe at 321 Motor Way, the roaster sits in the same room as the espresso bar. So when guests ask what we pour, the honest answer is a lot. Here is a walk down the menu, section by section, the way it is laid out on our cafe menu.

Espresso Drinks

Start with espresso itself. Espresso Milano Blend is our light roast espresso, and it is best for the smaller, less milky drinks: straight espresso, macchiato, cortado and flat white. Our cortado is a double ristretto with 4 oz of steamed milk, and the flat white is a double ristretto with 6 oz.

If you want more milk in the cup, the latte is right there, hot or as an Iced Latte. There is also a mocha made with dark chocolate, a white mocha, a cappuccino and an Americano. Light roast does not mean weak, by the way. If you have ever wondered about that, read Darker Roast Is Not Stronger Coffee.

Coffee & Tea

This is where the drip lives. We brew seven coffees a day, and they rotate, so ask what's on when you get to the counter. Iced Coffee is on this part of the menu too. Buy a drip and the refill is free for one hour, which we wrote about in Free Drip Refill for One Hour. If you would rather pick the coffee yourself, order a Pour Over and choose from the shelf of 50+ coffees.

Chai gets two options. The Chai Latte comes with RoCo Chai, which is spicier, or Portland Chai, which is sweeter. Both work as an Iced Chai Latte. For a plain cup of tea, the hot teas include English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Chamomile, Jasmine Green and Mint, and there is an organic ceremonial grade Matcha Latte too.

Cold brew sits here as well. Our Iced Cold Brew steeps 24 hours at 40 degrees. Nitro Cold Brew is on the menu too. If you think of cold coffee as a summer thing, our cold brew guide makes the case for every month.

Ice Blended Drinks

For the guests who want something closer to a treat, the blender comes out. The Blended Mocha, Vanilla Cream and Caramel Cream are on the list, along with the Chai Chiller for chai fans and the Espresso Chunk for anyone who still wants the coffee up front. There is a Fruit Smoothie for the non coffee crowd.

Breakfast and Pastries

A coffee shop morning needs food. Our Breakfast Sandis come on an English muffin, a brioche or a bagel, with bacon or sausage, egg and cheddar. They are what we hand across the counter when someone needs breakfast to go with the latte.

The pastry case carries bagels, a cinnamon twist, scones, danishes, muffins, croissants and a cherry turnover. Pastries come in limited amounts daily and can vary, so the earlier you come, the more there is to choose from.

The Roaster in the Room

What makes this Santa Barbara espresso bar different is the machine behind it. We have roasted here since 1989, and we still roast on the original 1989 machine in the same room as the espresso bar. The coffee in your cup was roasted a few steps from where you are standing.

Want to make it at home after your visit? Our brewing page has the basics, and Four Ways We Tell Guests to Brew at Home walks through the methods we suggest at the bar.

Come see us at 321 Motor Way, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. We are open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday from 7 AM to 6 PM. Check our cafe menu for everything else we pour.
