Our Decaf Coffees, Roasted Like the Rest

November 6, 2026Brolin Russell

Decaf does not have to mean a different roaster, or a bag you would never pick if it had caffeine in it. Nine of the coffees people already know us for come in decaf, and we roast them here in Santa Barbara along with the rest of our 50+ coffees. Our guide on how to choose coffee beans has a short note about that. Here is the fuller list.

The Same Bags, With a Decaf Option

On each of these pages, decaf is a choice right next to regular, the same way you pick a size or a grind. You can order a 12 oz or a 5 lb bag, whole bean or ground for drip, a paper cone or a French press. Espresso Blend also comes in Very Fine / Espresso Grind, and that grind is there on the decaf version too.

One detail about our two Colombias: Colombia Supremo is the classic Colombia, classically rich and full bodied, grown from Colombian Typica trees and roasted Full City, our light roast. It is the one you can get as a decaf ($22.00 for 12 oz). Colombia N.G. is the Naturally Grown version, and it does not come in decaf.

Light Roasts and Mixed Roasts

If you like a lighter cup, start with House Blend. A 12 oz decaf bag is $21.50. It brings together coffees from Central and South America, roasted Full City (our light roast), into a rich, easy cup that is bright yet mild.

Santa Barbara Blend ($22.00 for 12 oz decaf) takes five coffees from Central and South America and roasts them two ways. Some go to Full City and some go to French, our dark, then we blend them back together into a smooth, full-bodied cup. We explain that approach in We Mix Roast Levels (Not Just Origins).

The three Island Blends come in decaf as well, and those pages name the process: the Swiss Water Process, also called SWP. San Miguel Island Blend N.G. ($23.00 for 12 oz decaf) is roasted Full City, full bodied and gentle on acidity. Santa Cruz Island Blend N.G. ($23.50) is our Naturally Grown espresso, roasted Full City, Viennese (our medium) and French, then blended, with caramel and chocolate undertones. It has no espresso grind option, so choose whole bean if you are pulling shots at home. Santa Rosa Island Blend N.G. ($24.00) goes to French Roast, our dark, and the cup is full bodied with a smoky flavor. The fuller guide to all three is in Our Naturally Grown Island Blends.

Dark Roasts and Espresso

Espresso Blend ($22.50 for 12 oz decaf) mixes coffees from Indonesia and Central and South America, roasted Viennese and French. It was built for an espresso machine, and the decaf bag includes the espresso grind.

French Riviera Blend ($23.00 for 12 oz decaf) is our quintessential French Roast, dark and smoky.

State Street Blend ($23.00 for 12 oz decaf) is our signature blend. Coffees from Africa, Indonesia and Central America are roasted French and Double French, then blended into a cup that is dark and smoky all the way through.

How to Brew It at Home

You brew a decaf bag the same way you brew the regular one. Choose whole bean if you grind at home, or the grind that matches your maker. Our notes on the best way to brew coffee at home walk through French press, drip and the other methods we recommend.

If you want a single serve cup, our K-Cups come in Regular or Decaf. A Single Box of decaf holds 12 pods and is $16.99. The 3 Pack (36 pods) is $48.40, and the 6 Pack (72 pods) is $91.75.

At the Bar, or By the Bag

Our Motor Way espresso bar can pour espresso drinks decaf or half decaf. For the bag itself, browse all our coffees, or go straight to the decaf filter on that shelf.

We have been roasting in Santa Barbara since 1989, and decaf belongs on that same shelf. Pick the coffee you already like. Then choose decaf.
